Jeff has represented clients in a variety of different civil litigation matters, foreclosures, corporation and business entity formations, estate administrations, and real estate transactions and disputes. In recent years, Jeff’s practice has shifted to a focus on all things related to real estate—both transactions and litigation.

On the transactional side, Jeff works with our dedicated team of paralegals to conduct more than 250 residential closings every year. In addition to representing residential buyers and sellers, Jeff’s representative clients in more complex transactions include:
  • Commercial clients in purchase, sale, refinance, and lease transactions.
  • Developers in establishing new residential subdivisions.
  • Business owners in the purchase or sale of a business, including restaurants, breweries, campgrounds, construction trades, property management companies, and retail establishments.
  • Landowners and non-governmental entities in the donation of conservation easements.
  • Governmental entities in the acquisition of real estate.

A representation of Jeff’s recent litigation matters includes:
  • Negotiated a settlement in a condemnation proceeding in an amount greater than the original offer from DOT due to an appraisal error.
  • Obtained a judgment denying a claim for a right of way over a private road where no such right of way or easement existed.
  • Resolved a boundary line dispute in favor of client using an old pasture fence and survey of the family dairy farm from the 1940s.
  • Collected payment for breach of the terms of a contract.
  • Reached a mediated settlement to divide a large vacant land tract upon the death of the family patriarch.
  • Secured payment from an insurance company for losses related to a house fire when the insurer initially denied coverage existed.
